Research supports the benefit of Registered Nurses being degree prepared because of improved patient outcomes and less adverse incidents coinciding with clinical areas that have more degree prepared nurses. In Canada the entry to practice level for RNs in all provinces except Quebec is a baccalaureate degree. It has been more than two decades since the final hospital-based schools of nursing closed down. But, is a university education necessary to be a good nurse in the 21st century? In this episode Michelle and Claire discuss the relationship of university-based nursing programs, bringing their own perspectives and sharing the stories of their own university journey.
